Liminal

Liminal

Not relying on living subjects, this body explores space and all that an environment holds within itself. Liminality within space and seeing not only how it holds us and where it takes us, but all that it can endure is a process I wanted to capture. There are tones nuanced to the person based upon their own experience, and through their own perceptual filters a space can mean a million differences to a million people. Going black and white was a creative decision to really view unbiasedly. Not fixating on how full of color a space may be, one almost sees more of the space by seeing less. Liminality is a stage within a process, a sort of holding space into whatever is to come. Desaturated black and white aestheticizes this uneasy polarizing feeling of this transitional process. With no human subject visible, the focus is the space which would normally be occupied, but is instead filled with our emotion, thoughts, and peculiarities.
